Exit from Lisbon, this tour will take you directly to Óbidos, a delightful town, encircled by a ring of medieval walls and crowned by an old castle, surrounded by white houses adorned with bougainvilleas and pots of other flowers. In Óbidos, take your time to visit the many handicraft shops and to taste the famous Ginjinha de Óbidos, the typical cherry liqueur of the town.
The next visit is to the amazing church of the Batalha’s Monastery, classified as a World Heritage Site by Unesco. The monastery is one of the best and most original examples of Late Gothic architecture in Portugal.You will be amazed by the delicate lacework and its colored stained-glass windows.
Free time for lunch in Nazaré, a traditional fishing-village known for the freshness of it fish. Nazaré is also the home of “The Cannon” the biggest wave ever surfed in the world. In January 2013, the Hawaiian surfer Garrett McNamara surfed a record breaking giant wave, measuring a maximum estimate of 100 feet (30 m).
At the end of the tour, visit to Fátima, one of the most famous pilgrimage shrines in the world. It was here that in 1917 Our Lady appeared six times to the three young shepherds – Lúcia, Jacinta and Francisco. In Fátima, you will have the opportunity to visit the old Basilica where the tombs of the Three Shepherds are located, the new Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity and the Chapel of the Apparitions.
