Évora and Azeitão Private Full Day Tour

Standing in the middle of the Alentejo plains, Évora is a city of great history.

Exiting from Lisbon, this tour will takes you through the beautiful countryside roads of Alentejo, alongside with a landscape of cork oak trees and olive trees.

Évora has a history of more than two thousand years. The Romans built the Ebora Liberalitas Julia and we can still see here their elegant temple. The Moors left their influence in the maze of narrow streets and courtyards of the old city. The Romanesque-Gothic Cathedral, located in the centre of the town, is the largest in Portugal. The famous Church of São Francisco with its spooky Bone Chapel dates back to the beginning of the 16th century. But Évora has much more to offer. Once in the city, do not miss the opportunity to visit the old Jesuit University, the Giraldo Square, the Church of Lóis, the Palace of the Dukes of Cadaval, and much more.

After an impressive historical morning, it is time to taste the typical food of the region. Free time for lunch in Évora.

The afternoon is reserved to a very different experience: a visit to the wine cellar José Maria da Fonseca, in Palmela. JMF is one of the oldest and most prestigious wine companies in Portugal. Founded in 1834, it sells wines in all continents. Among its most famous wines are the Moscatel and the Periquita. The visit includes a tour to the cellars and a wine tasting of some of the wines made by JMF.
